I've searched for days and still haven't found wiring diagrams for an 83 so I figured I should make a thread asking for help. I only found wiring diagrams for an 82 and for an 85-86. I was going to try using them and looked them over and they are way different than the 83. The previous owner hooked up a wire coming from the igniter to the fusible link and thats the only way it would run. It drains the battery and often I have to keep moving that wire around and going back and forth into my car until it turns on. :sadbanana: It's annoying, has gotten much harder to turn on, and needs to be fixed ASAP, especially since it caused me to almost miss a test for my Pediatrics class(in my 4th semester to become an RN 
)My dad and I tried finding them on ebscohost, but the wiring diagrams that were supposedly for the 83 were the same as the 85-86 diagrams that are currently hosted on this site http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Library/TSRM/MK2/default.aspx If anyone has the 83 diagrams, please let me know in this thread or PM me. I would really appreciate it!

I can almost guarantee you it goes a a thick black wire with a red stripe. It terminates in a green one pin connector. I have the 83 diagrams (in paper) if you need me to look up something specific.

its like 30 pages. I might scan the whole thing one day, but not any time soon. Tell me what you are looking for (example ignitor) and I can manage that.

Wow. 30pages?! Well, it'd be great if you could scan the diagrams for the igniter, coil, fusebox(in the engine bay), relays(main relay, EFI relay, etc), and fusible links. By the way, thanks for offering to help! :salute:My car's driving me crazy and I just can't wait to fix it.

That would be great! I need the wiring diagrams for the igniter, coil, fusebox(in the engine bay), relays(main relay, EFI relay, etc), and fusible links. Thanks:thumbsup:

Thanks John! :thumbsup: This will help me out a lot! I do have one question though. The igniter has seven wires coming out of it. If I'm reading this correctly, the diagram says one of those wires is a ground. Two wires go to the distributor, two to the ecu, and two to the coil. One of the seven wires coming from the igniter on my car has a connector(not sure what you call it, one of those cylindrical green things) and it has a rubber plug over it. It seems like it came with that rubber plug from the factory. Why is that there? What is it for? Is that the wire that's supposed to be a ground? If so, do I have to attach a wire to it and ground it on the body(maybe ground it on one of the fender bolts)?

The wiring diagram is kinda misleading. If you open up the ignitor case, you will see there is a wire with a spade connector that is screwed to the case. The ignitor actually grounds thru the case to the body. I "believe" the extra wire is a tach output that a dealer tech could use for troubleshooting.

Thanks for the link, but I am a broke, unemployed college student at the moment(graduate in November! :zzzzz. All I have in my wallet is $2.00 unfortunately, so it's impossible for me to buy that wiring diagram book on ebay right now. :sadbanana: By the way, thanks CarFreek for the info. I appreciate it a lot, as I was completely clueless as to why it said it had a ground coming from it.

Anyone have a link for a 83 ewd, or a scanned image of it? I need to view the charging system, and can't find it anywhere. I know I've seen it before but it's been a while.
